Question:

I need to cook a ham - suggestions?

It is a 3 pound uncured and apple wood smoked hamIt is shaped like half a globeAnyone have any thoughts? I would like to add some brown sugar possibly.

Answer:

If I were you I would put them in a slow cooker on low for 8-10 hours and they will turn out juicy and delicious.
Put your ham skin side up in a rack in a roasting panAdd 1 cup of water to the bottom of the pan and cover the whole thing with aluminum foilBake at 325 for about 1 1/2 to 2 hoursAfter 90 min use a meat thermometer at the center near the bone and make sure the meat is at least 160 degreesOnce the ham is nearing done, take the foil off and baste with brown sugar dissolved in water (or ham or chicken stock)I add bourbon to my honey or sugar/water baste for a little extra flavor.
In the oven, slow and at a low temperature (say low 200s for 4-5 hours)You can cover them for most of the time.
Cook them at a slow temp like 225-250 for about five hoursWhen their done place them under a broiler to give them a good sear and to seal in the juicesThen place on your fave sauce and bake for about ten minutes and enjoy!
if you cook them on the grill i suggest smoking them with the water method they will be tender and juicy.a good website link is belowif you want to cook them in the oven.place them on a rack in a shallow pan with a 1/2 inch water in itmake a tent over the ribsthat way any grease will drip off and not ruin your saucebake on 250-300 degrees for 4-5 hours
