Sounds like that is a problem with the jaw joint (TMJ) and it IS possible to have a locked closed jaw without any pain. If your jaw is physically blocked from opening all the way then you probably have a displaced disc. With a true closed lock popping and clicking is absent. See an ENT doctor, they will know what to do.
