today, i had to get my car towed. the tranny blew up.im looking to just buy a new automatic trans, i have a 1998 Subaru Legacy L Wagon. automatic. full-time AWD. what transmissions are compatable with my car? such as imprezas, brighston sedan/wagon?
Look at your owners manual to find the model number to your transmission. All Subaru's are AWD all the time and I believe the LEgacy is compatible with the Forester. I installed a transmission cooler on my Forester and the transmission fluid is clean.going on 3 years. Also when going in for transmission service replace the transmission filter at least every 2 years.
