should i replace both tires?

I recently found out that I have had a nail in the sidewall of my Right rear tire. I am assuming that this has been going on for the last 4000 miles. Now, before I go replace that tire, is it necessary for me to replace the Left rear tire so that I have even tread?also, how many miles should i replace all tires? the tires have traveled 10,000 miles.
