I mentioned wanting to be a civil engineer and my friend told me there are better fields than a civil engineer, I need help
It's safe I cook with it all the time.
IF aluminum foil wasn't safe, then people would be dropping dead all the time for drinking soda, beer, etcfrom aluminum cans.
There are some people who say that it can cause diseases, along with drinking soda from a soda can and eating any sort of canned foods (like beans, tomatoes or tuna), since the cans have to be heated to a certain temperatureThey also say to never cook/microwave anything in plastic, so don't cover anything in the microwave with plastic wrap, or like me, I found brown rice that you can cook inside the bagapparently it's bad to do that too I don't know if there is any truth to any of this or notI'm sure more research needs to be done.
Chef Central is a great place for this type of thing - they specialize in EVERYTHING cooking related and they have a great baking sectionThis is where I head whenever I need to find something even remotely unusualAnd I have purchased baking decoration tools here - they have a huge selectionPlus, they have great classes you can attend for ideas, recipes, etcThey are located on Rt 17 N right where 17 meets the Garden State Parkway.:DI always cook with foil as wellThe amount of aluminum you ingest from foil is exceptionally small, unless you are cooking highly acidic foods like tomatoes or fruit juices in foilThe acid foods will react with aluminum and bring a funky flavor to your food from the aluminumIn most instances, chefs will tell you to avoid cooking acidic foods in aluminum pans or with aluminum foil.:D
Civil is consistently one of the lowest paid engineering disciplines (or used to be)So, if your friend means there are better (paying) fields he/she is probably rightHowever, you have to decide on what discipline suits you bestIn my first year of undergrad, we had a course that introduced us to what each discipline doesI couldn't see myself going into mechanical or electrical, so I went civilI can honestly say I have zero regrets in the career path I choseI work in construction, so I build bridges, dams and highwaysI work outside (good and bad days)I see big pieces of equipment moving soil aroundI get to be a part of cranes lifting steel beamsIt's every boy's dream, and they pay me (well enough for my needs, for sure)! I wouldn't trade it to make twice as much designing semiconductors or something like thatIt's definitely true about not working if you love your jobGood luck!
