Standard sized car with no trunk load?
you dont want to go too high, it will throw too much weight on the front end.
On a car it is give and take. Increase the width of the wheels, you get better handling. Taller wheels can look better, but they cause you to lose some control. Both add un-sprung weight, which is really bad for the suspension.
I have hijackers on all my cars cause I like that hillbilly look. I get roughly 4 inches lift but the ride is super rough. It lifted my one car so high in the back that the rear springs became loose and wiggled in their perches.
