Question:

Best french press?????????

Id like to get my girlfriend a french press as one of her birthday gifts but the problem is I know nothing about them. Every time I do some research I just come across the same few. I'd like to find the best possible so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Answer:

I have 4 presses...I prefer the thermal ones, the glass ones get cold faster. Also, the 'filter' so to speak, get one that has a rubber ring around it. The ones that are metal to the end tend to let more grinds through. Also, you might want to think about how much she will be drinking so you know how big of one to get. Hope this helps
i got mine at crate and barrel
if you want to get her a really nice one check out the description on the stainless model from BODUM sold by Sweet Maria's... Link below..
There are only a few brands of French Presses out there. I have 2 different sizes of Bodum stainless steel (thermal) presses. They retain the heat better, they will not break like glass ones, and they look really nice too. Go for it.
I use a Bodum Chambord. I have an 3- and a 12-cup model. They are measured in espresso cup sizes so the 3-cup model is actually more like 1 regular coffee. I like the glass models, but that or stainless is your choice. Although you should get stainless if anyone around it is a klutz. The French press is also very useful for making tea (I use my 3-cup for that work).
