Answer:

Ignore them. If they are not funny don't laugh, but don't let them drive you insane otherwise you would seem the one with a foolish comeback. How did you get in this nuthouse? Cousin's comebacks drove me mad HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! YOU ARE SOME FELLA!! YOUR SPECIAL AIN'T YA? HAHAHAHAHAHAH!! Oh yeah?. Yeah? Umm.. Your mom!
hold the helmet between your legs with the shield facing away from yo. Lift it all the way open. Lift the shield release lever located on each side untill it snaps. This may seem like your going to break them but you won't. It takes enough force to make the levers flex a little. Once each side has snapped you'll be able to pull the sheild away from the helmet. Replace it by just snapping it back in place from the open position.
If your smoke alarm is older than 10 years old it's time to replace it. Smoke alarms start to age and lose their effectiveness over the years. 10 years is the maximum life a smoke alarm should be installed. Sometimes homeowners insurance even tries to get out of claims by saying the smoke alarms should have been replaced. I would have them properly replaced by an electrician and have it documented.
