I did a quick look up and I found that most smoke alarms have 85db at 10 feet. Since you say that you have hearing pain then you very well may have slightly damaged your ears. Im sure even if did damage your hearing it would be so small it would be undetectable. And yes, plugging your ears or stopping the sound from entering your ear canal will decrease the db / damage to your hearing. Good luck friend, I hope it is just a minor temporary thing with your ears, nothing to serious I hope.
