If water is not kept at pressure in a house plumbing, will the copper fittings and the tubing become weakened?
I have one in my travel trailer. Better safe then sorry.
I do not carry a fire extinguisher when I do not have a campfire and use my backpacking stove. However, a box of baking soda is a good idea to carry when car camping. It will douse a fire with carbon dioxide, removing the oxygen from most fuel sources. Baking soda mixed with any acid, such as vinegar, produce carbon dioxide and is a useful cleaner for surfaces.
Almost any kind of gas (except oxygen of course) will put out a fire by displacing the oxygen. You could use a big tank of nitrogen, which would fill up the room and smother the fire (and you too if you're not careful). CO2 is commonly used because it's heavier than air so it floats along the bottom of the room, presumably where the fire is. Just about any kind of foam that covers the fire and doesn't burn would work too, by cutting off the oxygen and perhaps absorbing some of the heat. I have seen sand used for gas and oil fires. Most gas stations have a big bucket of sand somewhere where it can be grabbed in a hurry.
