who would you hire?/replace them by?
Unless they were a thief or trying to have sex with everyone there, I'd just let them try another type of job in the company, and let someone else who wants to try their job come to their (now) former area. I wouldn't fire anyone without being really sure of my choice coz I've done that before and sometimes they slash your tires and start selling drugs. (Or some other crazy, down and out thing.) Which isn't your fault, but it still feels like your fault. :( Even if it was the right thing to do after giving many chances, you could still move them to a different job title and just keep trying different ones, unless they are thieving or sexing.

i termitated the person who worked third shift in a group home where we worked with mentally ill and mentally disabled persons when i walked in to find the door unlocked and slightly open and he was asleep on the sofa, he had not just dozed off he had removed his pants and shoes and wrapped himself in a blanket and set his alarm because of this 2 of the clients wet their beds and had to remain in them overnight also he had not given them their much needed medications i chose to not hire anyone to replace him and instead did his load of the work myself actually i soon realized that i did not need to work as hard as i had before he was fired because i no longer had to tell him what to do and end up doing it myself anyway
the price does not make up for the hp increase
A very important decision because you're impacting someones life and career. I was not well-equipped (personnel-wise) when I made my first two firings and, to this day, many years later, live with those regrets. I cannot give an answer to this question as I would have to 'live' within the situation before taking on this weighty responsibility.
