Iguana Burns?

My iguana has really bad burns on her belly from her heat rockwhat can I do about it? I am currently putting ointment on them but is there a way I can make the heat rock less hot? Would it be bad to rap a twel over it tone down the heat? she has a heat lamp but will only sleep under it during the dayat night she likes her rockAslo should I wrap up her burns?I can't afford to take her to the vet, so please don't say thatI have treated iguana burns on my own before but that was a while ago.

Definatly take out the heat rock! ASAP!! It will cause burns no matter whatIguanas in the wild live in trees, they do not bask on rocks that have been heated by the sunTheir stomachs are not adapted to taking heat from underneathStick with the overhead heating source onlyMake sure your UV light is no older than 6 monthsProper lighting and nutrients will help her heal quickerTake out any loose substrate from her habitat (any soil or bark)Honestly, you shouldn't have any of that in their habitat anyway, it is safer to use carpetAny bark or soil can get into the open wounds and cause an infectionGet some Neosporin and put it on the burns dailyClean out any feces immediatlyYou want to keep it as clean as possibleOnce she gets an infection, she HAS to go to a vet, or it can be lethalSo make sure it is cleanDon't wrap it up in a bandaid, or gauze, it needs air to healIf the burns are bad enough, she will have scarring, but after a few sheds, it will go awayGood LuckMessage me if you need any more help.
