Question:

Im using cds for my wheels for a mousetrap car. What else do I need to make the cds fit with an axle.

I want to reduce the friction as much as I can. I‘m not good with tools or stuff like that. So what size axle do I need, and do I need anything else just for the wheels? I have everything else ready for the car, I‘m just having a problem fitting the wheels.

Answer:

The axle is a massively important part of the car, it's radius as compared to the cd wheels is what gives you your gearing. If the radius is too small the car will try to go too fast, and may accelerate poorly. If it is too large you will waste energy. depending on what you use you should be able to either use glue, or a bolt through the axel or as the axel. If you use a bolt sandwich the wheels between washers and nuts.
