When mining quartz, it would be extracted from beach sand, sandstone, or quartzite (metamorphosed sandstone). The minerals you would expect to find aside from quartz include: Feldspar Zircon Garnet Magnetite Microliths (small fragments of other rocks) Calcite or Dolomite (probably from broken shells or other sealife skeletons)
