In my mousetrap car do i need to glue my front wheels to the axle?Question Details:I have already glued by rear wheels to my axle but i am not sure if i need to do the same for my front. BEcause technically my front axle does need to spin of my front wheels provide direction. I am not sure. HELPPPPPPPPPP????????????.
I think you should, because otherwise the front wheels may spin on their own without getting the axle spinning, and make the car go slow and/or spin out. I'm not totally sure, I'm just trying to think back to Tech Ed. last year.
The wheel, or the axle needs to be free. Fix the wheel and the axle must float. Fix the axle and then the wheel must float. email if that didn't make sense. Isn't that due tomorrow?
Not sure what your using for wheels, but if the axle doesn't spin, you need a way for the wheels to spin freely, without rubbing the body of the car. That would slow it down a lot. I would suggest fixing the wheels to the axle, and mounting the axle to the car with plastic clips, or even better, teflon clips, for less resistance. In fact, both axles should be mounted with teflon clips. By clips, I refer to the round wire retainer type clips that have a single screw hole, to mount the clip to the body.
