InDesign CS4 question about brackets around text?

Hi, I can use the keyboard and type brackets around text in one line, simple. What if I want to use high brackets to brackets 2 or 3 lines at once? Can I make high brackets in indesign CS4? If so, how please? Need step by step I am a novice at indesign.thanks

Answer:

1. Place the text as you would an image (File - Place or mac: command D, PC: Ctrl D) 2. Hold the Shift Button on your keyboard and click on the starting page. This will flow the text throughout your document using your column settings that you defined when you first created the indesign document. You can edit those setting by going into the top menu: Layout - Margins and Columns. OR you can just edit the text boxes that the program creates. If you already have text boxes placed throughout the document via a master page you can: 1. go into the Pages Panel, then in the pull down menu (triangle thingy in the corner) select Override All Master Page Items - this unlocks them 2. Paste the text into the desired text box, then link all of those text boxes from the different pages. I hope this helps
What I would do is create a separate text box to make these brackets in. After you type the brackets inside the box, size the font until it is large enough to fit around your text. Then you can place that box either on top of your normal text box or below. There is also an option to create outlines from text. This can be helpful because you can type on bracket in a text box, create outlines on that box (it's under the type drop-down menu) and then you have a shape just like in illustrator. You can resize this shape to what looks good and then copy it and flip it horizontally. Hope these suggestions help!
