Question:

Information on a motorcycle tires?

I‘m writing a story and I don‘t know very much about motorcycles. I‘d like to know what could cause a motorcycle to have a blowout? The motorcycles would be a Triumph Thunderbird.

Answer:

Just to add to the others. Another reason for a blow out when taking off from a stop is low enough tire pressure, and enough throttle and traction to cause the rim to spin on the tire, tearing out the valve stem, causing instant loss of air pressure (had this happen to me on a Triumph 650 Bonneville back in '76).
If there isnt mutch tread on the tires or if you hit a object that punctures the tire yes a Triumph Thunderbirds could have a blowout.
It's been my experience that the two biggest causes of blowout's on are under inflation and old age.You don't know how many times I hear I don't under stand there's lots of tread left but the side walls are weather checked and cracked.Punctures and worn out tires account for about 30% of failures 5-10% under inflation and 60-65% old age
