Pantera is Power Metal. They're pretty good. Slipknot is not heavy metal. They play a type of music called mallcore (incorrectly called nu-metal by some). Their guitar skills are zero (guitar is the essence of heavy metal). If you want high quality heavy metal, try Testament. Other great bands include Megadeth, Iron Maiden and Dio.
