most durable, Engineered, hardwood, bamboo, laminate floors?
I have wood vinyl and it is great.. very easy to replace. I would look into a better quality of flooring when the boys are a little older and dogs arent very active. My mom has regular wood floors and with the dogs and their wet paws and water dish it has ruined the floor.
well hard wood is better. very expensive and if damaged hard to replace, but it lasts centuries and looks elegant. bamboo is much cheaper and easier to replace. i would get one that has a high durable gloss. that is your best protection from damage. rememeber to save some of what ever you buy so if ever needed you can replace it with the same kind of wood, and it will age and color the same.
actually I think engineered flooring is more durable, wood gets scrapes and scratches and warps if you spill a drink and don't get it right up. We have Kronotex from Lowes and we LOVE it. We have two cats (who run and slide on it with their claws out), a 7 year old, 2 year old and a drooling infant. Our 2 year old LOVES to throw his toys and bash our floor with all sorts of metal and other things that would scar any real wood floor. We haven't had a single scar or scratch yet! The one we picked even has a wood grain and lots of variety in the color of the boards so it isn't so fake looking. My husband even installed it himself and it was actually pretty cheap. Good Luck!
Prefinished bamboo, would be a very good choice, when all things are considered (such as): boys will grow up small dogs cant damage a factory finish (unless they try) one time investment for the life of your home sustainable material re-finish-able tough as nails long warranty on finish ease of install just to list few EDITORIAL: Lets not confuse engineered floors with laminate floors!
