Question:

ionic bonding between metals and nonmetals?

Why do ionic bonds typically occur between metals and non-metals?

Answer:

Hmm, seems to me that having so many sub-genres is not a problem...the problem is when people classify themselves into one of those genres. I personally like having all these sub-genres as it makes finding new bands easier. As for do you need to have a Blackened Viking Death Metal genre or else you wouldn't know how to answer a persons question.....Well yeah, you do need it or you're going to be giving misguided answers. Each genre has its own characteristics that separate it from the rest. I agree there are alot, but I like it. Just a thought.... think about how many bands have changed genres........Oh and to answer the question...I'll say theres more bands.
Black Metal Death Metal Doom Metal Folk Metal Power Metal Glam Metal Goth Metal Industrial Metal Progressive Metal Metalcore Neo-classical Metal Post-Metal Sludge Metal Speed Metal Stoner Metal Thrash Metal Deathcore Symphonic Metal Nintendocore Mathcore Math Metal Avant Garde Metal Viking Metal Grindcore Horrorcore Speedcore Nu Metal Funk Metal Grunge Epic Metal Noisecore Noise Metal Applecore White Metal Rap Metal And for the most part, that's off the top of my head.
C'mon Sarah - This is Basic Set Theory - If Genre is the SuperSet - and the Band/s is/are the SubSet - Then there are either - -- an EQUAL amount of Bands Genre - OR - -- there are MORE BANDS than Genres - Jeffrey :-) Heavy, Speed, Black, Death, Prog Metal - that's 5 and even if there is a whole lot of other Genres - there has to be more Bands than Genres Now - Let's breakdown how many DIFFERENT TYPES OF JAZZ there are LOL :-))
Well if you take out all the cores there like 3 metal genres lol. So more bands. But in all seriousness, metal bands are trying to be original and incorporating various different genres. For example, I came upon this band a few days ago (Pre School Tea Party Massacre) that is mainly death metal but has electronica and hip hop also in their music.
Well, there is the following... Thrash Metal Death Metal Heavy Metal Speed Metal Power Metal Black Metal Hair Metal Nu Metal The last two metals I don't really like, but yes you are correct in saying that there is probably an endless amount of metal genres. Music changes and develops over time so we could be seeing new metal genres over the next few years.
