Yes to both. Charging your phone with a standard iPod charger may put it in airplane mode though. And you can use the old iPhone charger with the new one, it'll work just fine.
No. the charger has to be made for the iphone. If you try charging it with a normal ipod charger its going to put the phone in airplane mode. As a result you wont be able to receive or make calls while its charging.
