Question:

Iquana just laid eggs. HELP!!?

Hi there,My iguana laid a batch of 20 eggs at 2am this morning. I just want to double check at what temperature I should incubate them and for what period of time. Please help. as much answers as possible. Thanking you in advance.

Answer:

they should incubate at 84-87F for around 90 days use 50/50 mix of vermiculite and water to make a incubation medium. If your female has not been mated in the past month or so the eggs are not fertile and should be thrown out. A female iggy will lay eggs yearly even with no male around signs of fertile eggs. Oval shape, Large, firm to touch, dry feeling. if they get soft, dents, mold they are infertile
PLEASE don't incubate them. Just discard them all. There are far too many unwanted and abandoned igs stuck in rescues, without much hope of finding a new home, without adding to the problem by producing more babies that few people want (and those that do rarely care for them properly or understand the space, time and financial commitment involved in caring for them past their first couple of years.)
