Question:

Is a Quad Core processor a smart investment?

I'm building a gaming computer with intentions to play Battlefield 3. The game recommends a quad core processor, and I was thinking about AMD's new FX 4100 CPU. I just want to make sure that the processor is worth getting. Should I be looking into a 6 or 8 core CPU? I just don't want to have to buy a new CPU 18 months from now. I want to know if a quad core will be enough for the future or if i should go with 6 or 8 cores.

Answer:

Forget about Bulldozer, it's basically sh*t. Go Sandy Bridge or go home. Intel's quad core Sandy Bridge CPUs, totally outclass AMD's Bulldozer quad and 6 core cpus, and are usually faster than their octacore CPUs as well.
Quad core is just fine. Make sure you buy one that is compatible with your motherboard.
i do recommend you to buy AMD A8-Series AD3870WNGXBOX Quad-Core A8-3870K Black Edition APU and use munimum of 16 gb ddr3 12800-1600 mhz corsair rams. liquid cooling is best inwestment and use asus motherboard that support 64 gb ram with 64 bit systems so at future you do not need to buy a new motherboard for 64 gb ram and every dim will support 16 gb ram asus will update everyhing . if you need help you may cantact me by mail if you are around Toronton area i can help personaly
Not anymore after 6 core CPU came out
