Question:

Is it easy for metals to have scratches on them?

silver and copper? If I have silver or copper bars and rounds that are .999 fine, is that supposed to be scratch proof?

Answer:

No metal we know is scratch proof. Every metal known to human beings can have scratches on it. May be Aliens from other planet know and have scratch proof metals. Therefore it is better to contact extraterrestrials.
Silver and copper are relatively soft metals and thus easy to scratch. In fact, if you knew your history (and you are deeply in need of history lessons) the discovery of bronze which is just copper alloyed with small amounts of tin changed the world because bronze is much harder than copper. The discovery of bronze ushered in the Bronze Age in which people could make useful tools and weapons from a metal that was now hard enough to be useful. A copper sword is nearly useless because it will bend and break (a silver sword is even more useless). A bronze sword is something you should be afraid of. Bronze, of course, is much harder to scratch than copper.
on silver VERY EASY, even if you use microfiber wipe, it will leave small hairline scratches that a collector will see first thing. On copper its not too important because copper is not very precious metal, its very cheap. Im a coin collector silver to be exact and I see scratches all the time because someone was trying to clean it. Even a finger print on the coin WILL ruin that coin for good.
