i just bought a 97 jeep wrangler..the soundbar isnquot;t hooked up. I pulled the carpet back and found the following: a red wire connecting the soundbar to under the dash (probably power), and a black wire connecting the soundbar to metal. there are 4 small wires unattached to anything coming from the soundbar, and a red and white sound wire coming from under the dash (actually has plugs like on a tv surround system), and a ground wire all unattached. how can i hook this mess up to make the soundbar work. i do have sound coming from the front dash speakers. thanks for help.
Something else you might want to consider is adding some silicon sealant to your wire connections. This will help cut down on corrosion from moisture, especially if you plan on splashing around anywhere, or if you leave the top down/off. You CAN use heat-shrink, but it's a pain to get back off if you need to change anything.
i love that jeep best year hold up the best i would take the wires from the sound bar and get rid of them i would just run fresh wires to the back of my stero the tv wires are plugs are for like a sub or ipod there should be 8 wires at the back of your radio 2 to each speaker so 2 the left 2 ot the right and 2 for the left rear and 2 for the right rear the stero should have one sold color and one that has like a blak line on it same color gray with blue green are comon what stero head you got
Well the rca connections are either an input for an auxiliary device or an output for an amp. The ground wire should be grounded as long as it is a ground wire, a lot of radios are case ground and will work with out the wire grounded but may experience interference. As far as the wires coming from the sound bar, there is no need to replace the entire wire. Usually radios have four speaker outputs, front left, front right, rear left, rear right. Each pair is color coded and one of the two wires has a stripe on it. Once you determine which wires from the sound bar are pairs you can hook them up to the back of the radio, positive and negative wont make a big difference unless its a specific frequency range. You may notice a slight variation in sound if you turn the volume up loud. In that case just reverse the wires. You'll also want to find out which pair of wires from the radio is for which speaker location and hook them up correctly. You don't need to be worried about getting shocked from the speaker wires so you can test the different outputs with the radio on but you must be careful not to touch the wires from the radio together or you can short out the radio. As far as the red wire, it should be the power wire for the light and the black is ground. Make sure any wires you connect are firmly connected and covered to prevent shorting out. Shrink tube is quite cheap.
