My 2000 Dodge Durango‘s CV joint is completey broken. I don‘t want to pay a mechanic one million seven dollars to get it fix. I would rather do it my self. Is there a website where some help?. So you think a auto parts store will let me rent the tools?, and what tool will I need.
not much is needed take off the wheel then take off the axle nut and then the lower ball joint nut the spindle needs to come off of the lower ball joint you may have to smack the control arm right next to the lower ball joint to break the spindle loose after you get it loose and off the lower control arm just push back on the axle it should come right out of the spindle then give it a good yank out the the tranni the axle should come out in one whole peace put the new on in ( you may have to tap the end with a hammer you will feel it pop into place make sure you put the axle nut on the new axle be for tapping it with the hammer so you do not destroy the new threads. and then just put it all back togeather.
yes an auto parts store will loan you the tools to do the job but you better be close because there is always something forgotten. Its not too bad to change if you are handy with the tools.
