Question:

Is it legal to only have one smoke detector in a 3-bedroom 2-bath apartment and 0 fire alarms in the building?

Almost everyone in this building smokes. That observation triggered me to look at my probability in case of a fire. My final tab: 1 fire extinguisher for the whole building, 0 fire escapes, 1 smoke detector for the entire apartment, 1 way in and one way out of the apartment. I do not think it's habitable.

Answer:

Don't you have a HOA at your condo? Craigslist is the last place I'd look. There has to be a maintenance man at your condo who can fix the lock, or at the very least, a hardware store! If you insist on using Craigslist, try a locksmith. You're thumbs downing everyone that's answering your question, which means if we try to help you, you're not going to like what we say, or even see if we try to fix our answers. Why don't you look it up yourself on google instead of demanding we do the work for you, and then getting angry when it's not done to your satisfaction? Not that you'll ever see this. Try DUCT TAPE! It's $5.00 a roll.
