call recycle center or fire dept,hazemat unit, neutralize with garden lime until fizzing stops. wear protective eye wear, gloves and apron. can take a while to dilute depending on how much you have like 3 or 4 hours. using garden lime will turn it into a harmless salt. it will then not be a danger to the enviroment
according 2 ur detector but yes, it can make sum go off. mine was located near my b/r and when the steam hit, it would go off evrytime!!!
I have had this experience when it got very, very steamy in our bathrm. and the steam went out into the bedrm. and set off the alarm - several times. I don't think the smoke alarm detects the difference betwn. smoke and steam. I think when hot air goes into it it sounds off.
Wow. That's awful! As terrible as it is, the answer is no, the city shouldn't reimburse you, and you wouldn't want them to. It would result in taxes so high that you couldn't afford to live there. If the city had to pay for every situation like yours, it would go broke, not to mention the bureaucracy it would create to have people investigate every claim. Just chalk it up to a lousy experience and move on, taking extra good care of your cute little car. I hope you have good insurance.
