I ve been trying to make sculpture with polymer clay, but they re quite expensive, and I usually use up a lot just fleshing out the sculptureI m thinking of using other materials as a base material on top of armature wire to reduce my use of polymerHow would hardened air dry clay react to moderate heat?

Oh, and I'll edit if I think of more.
The problem with using other clays under polymer is the differences in expansion and contraction and that polymer shrinks (as do all clays) when bakedIf you are making larger figures, the usual armature material is scrunched up heavy duty aluminum foil which has no problems with the heat and allows keeping the polymer in the 1/4 to 1/2 range that saves clay and keeps baking time reasonable.
