Is landscaping cloth or heavy plastic sheeting best under pebbles ?
Au contrare Mermaliz,JumpingJack is quite right.Landscaping cloth does NOT allow weeds to grow plastic does prevent drainage.
I agree with Bing and Jack, landscaping cloth is best, as it allows drainage. If the water can't drain, you get stink and the potential for mosquito breeding grounds. As long as you have mulch (like the pebbles) over the cloth, you'll keep anything from growing under it.
Heavy Duty Plastic Sheeting
Thick heavy duty black plastic is the best for under landscaping rocks and pebbles. The landscaping cloth is woven and therefore has little tiny holes in it which allows light to get through and promote the growth of weeds. Anyone I have ever known was sorry they used that falsely advertised landscaping cloth. ------ What JJF has said isn't true. In all of the landscaping jobs that I have seen, I have never seen the condition that he mentions.
