Question:

Is Metal a Renewable Resource?

Hi. Is metal a renewable resource or a non renewable one? Thanks in advance!

Answer:

At that time in metal, there was two sub genres 1)new metal 2)nu metal 1) new metal was creating stuff with in boundaries of metal like lamb of god and Machine head, they were heavy but not old school like black sabbath not that thrash like big four and others (they became known after grunge (nirvana) era because no metal bands survived in that era except Pantera) so they became new metal and they weren't big in numbers. 2) and in nu metal bands started using turntables and ****, they mixed rap and metal,In mainstream the did massive impact so basically new metal wasn't grew that much. And SOAD sounded different than both sub genres.but critics added them in nu metal(they were in nu metal scene though and forcely pushed into nu metal) But most of metal bands diehard fans appreciate them than nu metal guys.so they were kind of metal. And those different subgenres is for classification its not any kind of competition so chill. Hope this helped thanks.:)
I would agree that they are Nu-metal, which, as a sub-genre of Metal, makes them Metal. Metalheads, more than all others, love to nitpick about subgenres and argue about what metal subgenre certain bands and songs fall into.
Often referred to as Nu-metal, more of an alternative metal sound. Metalheads love to be nitpick and be judgemental though so naturally some of them will deny S.O.A.Ds status as a metal band.
Having all of their albums and having been into them since the beginning I don't consider them Metal at all (I could care less what Wiki says). Bands with some Metal overtones should be called a Metal band, Alternative or not. I like AltMetal and NuMetal so don't get me wrong but I know what is and what isn't and SOAD isn't. It's all in the lyrics, to me it's Hardcore Punk, their version of course! Then listen to the music Hugh If you know Punk well it's evident. Deer Dance, Prison Song and War? are prime examples. The argument could last forever (because I'm not gonna change) In reality System Of A Down is one of those few bands that is indeed in a genre of their own.
No. Metal has a bunch of genres because there are many bands that sound very stylistically different from each other. Nu metal isn't metal either. Just because something happens to have metal influences does not make it metal. Crust punk and Grindcore are very close to metal, but are subgenres genres of punk. Same goes for a lot of metalcore and deathcore. Some are more influenced by metal than others. Austrian Death Machine sounds way different than BFMV. ADW has much more metal influences in it, hence making it metal. Does Power metal sound like Technical Death metal? Not at all. That's why there are subgenres. Subgenres also help you look for bands with similar styles.
