I'm trying to connect to the internet on my Ubuntu machine, but apparently it won't accept a connection shared from my Windows laptop (bridged connection)Is there a way to make this work? This normally works with two Windows machines, and I know for a fact that Ubuntu won't connect because of my Windows bridgeAny help? I am running Windows 7 (64 bit) and Ubuntu 12.04 (64 bit).
Yesi do it all the timedont mind the who answered ur question all rudebut yea.
NoBut go ahead and try anywaysMy husband loves catching idiots like you.
Enable ICS (internet connection sharing) for whatever network interface connects your Windows PC to internetSet the ethernet on Windows that would connect to Ubuntu to get an IP and everything automatically (ICS will assign it an IP)Then Ubuntu should be able to automatically get an IP address, etcfrom WindowsIf that does not work with regular ethernet cable between Windows and Ubuntu (if network devices do not automatically detect cable type), you might need to use a crossover ethernet cableThen do ifconfig (without quotes) in Ubuntu terminal and see if it was assigned an IP address.
