Question:

Is there a way/website for looking up locations of fire hydrants in your neighborhood?

I'm buying a home and have been told that my insurance rates will go down if i can show there is a hydrant within a mile of the home. I'm hoping there is some sort of site that lists the locations.

Answer:

Kitchen faucets often have a round screen screwed onto the end of the tap, held in place by a decorative end. Unscrew the cap on the end of the tap, right where the water comes out and see if the screen has become clogged. If so, soak in vinegar to clean it out, or replace the screen. Good luck!
I've never seen a house with separate breakers for the smoke detectors. Unless you are changing everything by completely rewiring the connections you shouldn't have to turn the power off. A lot of detectors will simply plug directly into the old cords and sometimes you get lucky and they will fit the base, but to change the base is very simple, there are just two screws that hold it to the box that have to be removed and then replaced with the new base.
No they don't have there own power switch. They are hard wired. To change the battery or head you don't.
