Question:

Is there any difference between wheel bearing & wheel bearing assembly for cars?

Or are they just the same thing? Also, as a secondary question, is it relatively difficult to change wheel bearings in front wheel drive Ford Focus?

Answer:

yes just be sure to water it throughly when you use it
same thing.no,it should b a really simple job to change the front wheel bearings.
your Focus uses a bearing assembly, which is the bearing in a sealed hub. there is no maintenance required, and since it's sealed, it should last forever yeah right! Some assemblies have bearings that needs to be pressed out, in your case, just buy the assembly and bolt it on. Much easier and no grease mess and no worry about packing.
get the 17. this means that the wheel diameter is larger, this is pretty much up to you, wether you like small or large wheels. I personally like the larger wheels. I have 18 on my GTI MkV, and think at times I should have gone with 19. I would say 17 is the better option. It will also be a litter quicker, but may highten the ride by a little. 18 would be about the biggest size for your mini cooper. When selecting the tires. try to keep it at the same width to avoid the body from hitting the tire.
