If you weren't cooking, toasting or painting, it could be dust in the detector. You can try vacuuming the openings on the detectors to get the dust out, but you may have to replace them. If they aren't dependable, they are worse than none at all.
blue tounged skink they are nice even adult wild caught ones but i would start with a bearded dragon
Smoke detectors are usually ionization detectors although they could be photoelectric as well. See article. In newer homes, smoke detectors are installed as part of the construction of the house and are normally wired into the same circuit. So, one going off sets all of them off. If one is placed in the kitchen, then cooking can set it off even though there is no smoke per se. When that happens to me, I wave a dish towel at the offending detector a couple of times and it quits. What you describe has happened to me. No smoke, no cooking, nothing, but the alarm is going off anyway. Normally, one is either defective, or dirty. Try a vacuum on all of them. Take the cover off and clean each one. If it happens again, replace them all. Remember that if there is one in the kitchen, it will gather cooking grease and is probably the one that is going off. When they are wired together in a circuit they are normally 120 v detectors and may (or may not) have a 9v battery to keep them running if the power goes out. So, pull the cover off one and see if it's wired into household current before buying the replacement.
