Is there dye specifically for plastic? I'd like to dye some plastic rather than paint it. :o
plastic usually has a clear film over it, you would need to sand it with a fine sandpaper to get dye to take. they make a spray paint for plastic that can be found at any arts and crafts store...it holds really well, i did a couple outdoor chairs and table, it has held up for 2 seasons...
I had a friend who was into rc cars, building and racing. when he needed to dye plastic for a car, he just put them in a bit of Rit dye (the kind for fabric) and let them soak. I don't remember how long they had to sit in it or anything, but the pieces seemed to take the dye ok.
