Question:

Is this a quartz? Pics included.?

I found this clear looking rock outside and was wondering if its quartz. Its pretty hard and my nail didn't seem to scratch it. I don't know anything about rocks so hope these pics help.

Answer:

Really big quartz crystals are rare and expensive to buy. Look at the first source below -- a quartz crystal less than a foot across is $880 -- and the price goes up exponentially with size. There are interestingly large gypsum crystals in Mexico (2nd source) -- 36 feet long but I don't think they are selling them and they would soon be corroded and dissolved by rain. Rocks are less expensive. Maybe you could stonescape -- look at third source. Check your local area for landscaping stone. They might have quartzite which is a rock of smallish quartz crystals and often beautiful or look at sandstones. A pallet of rock will run $300-$800 depending on the rock and where you are.
have not heard of the quartz crystal in specifics. even although I even have heard that granite is meant to have a impression on paranormal or non secular interest. maximum granites are composed of a extensive volume of quartz. additionally I even have heard of quartz crystals used to concentration energies.
