real sterling shouldn't rust, besides the undeniable fact that the outdoors will oxidize and you get that black tarnish on it which will choose wiped sparkling off with silver polishI continuously shop my silver faraway from the air as much as a threat to sluggish this technique down, in a good field and wrapped.
Well, real silver will never rustI'm assuming that you mean it is tarnished (has a dark almost black coating on it)I find the best way to remove it is with toothpaste and a toothbrush.
Sometimes, I just find that soaking it in coca cola works fine (if it's real silver).
If you have a REAL silver set, you have something very valuableMost people could never afford a sterling silver set anymore My suggestion is to treat it like fine jewelry, and go to a jewelry store and buy the finest silver cleaner you can get The aluminum foil treatment you are speaking of performs a chemical combination that may injure your fine silver, or if it's silver plated, will remove the silver altogether You have an heirloom, please regard it as suchThat's not called rust, it's called tarnish.
