I've watched several videos on YouTube about them but I still don't understand how they could be shortcuts.Let's just say for example, that the Universe is shaped like a basketball. If there is a wormhole (tunnel) from one part of the inside of the basketball to another part, how is it a shortcut? I don't get how a wormhole can be a shorter distance to travel than just traveling straight at another point in the Universe.Can someone please try to help me out so I can understand how these work?

Tinted glass. With tinted glass, looking through it and you're in the lighter environment, you'll be able to see your reflection clearer than what lies beyond. If you're in the darker environment, you'll be able to see straight through the glass and be less able to see your reflection.
