So currently I have an imb thinkpad t41, it came standard with 1.6-GHz Pentium M, 512MB of DDR266 SDRAM, and a 40GB hard drive.I know I need a 2 ghz core 2 duo, 2 gb ram, and a 200+ gb 7000 rpm hard drive. I don't really care about OS, and screen size and weight are meaningless to me. I'm on a limited budget and plan to use it live.I will be using ableton live, reason, and a few vst's via midi controllers like an alesis qx49, novation launchpad and sooner or later a misa digital kitara.any ideas?
I'd suggest you get a Macbook Pro. I prefer the 15 inch screen when editing, but if you can handle the 13, get that with 2.8 ghz, Intel i7, and 750GB. Pricey but if you have a job and good credit, you can get a decent payment plan. It's GREAT for editing and audio work. I've been using mine for about two years now and I've had no crashes, very rarely freezes and I haven't lost any work (knock on wood). So if you can, invest in it.
I might desire to declare the superb investment i ever made grow to be my macbook....garageband and good judgment professional(basically acquire them) and audicity supply the superb modifying consequences and keep the everyday.
