I have a 99 single cab 2wd S10. I know nothing about vehicles, but i want to lift my truck 3 inches so i can fit 31 inch tires on it. Would this work? Also what kind of lift kit would i buy? Whenever i read about lifting S10 people talk about body lifts and suspension lifts. Do i need 1 or both? And do i need a mechanic to install it or can i do it myself?
The reason for the two types is mainly the cost factor. 4 wheel disc brakes cost considerably more to manufacture. The disc front and drum rear are about the cheapest to make and work quite well.
Ditto what Question Mark is saying. I can simplify this. You can get a 3 suspension lift at the front by purchasing, installing and aligning 3 lift front spindles. The rear will have to be a 3 body lift. Drive it around with the standard tires for a while to see how you like it. It might be right up your alley. If it isn't and you still want the 31 tires, you are going to have to change the differential, the rear wheels and the tires. What ratio differential? You do the math. Pi X Diameter Circumference.
Hi i think you will find its because the back brakes are also the hand brake. So if your brakes fail you've always got the handbrake as a last resort because it uses a cable to operate them instead of hydraulics and they are not open to the elements. I know some cars have disc brakes all round but i think these are cars like jaguar which have inboard disc brakes .Regards MAC
