Is it ok to wire a 12v bulb to a 14v power supply? will the extra 2 volts hurt the bulbs very much?
It's only about 15% over the bulb's rating. It will probably be extremely bright and will burn out sooner than otherwise. but should work OK.
Most 12v bulbs are made for the auto industry, and their 12V system is really 13.8v, which is practically 14v anyway. No problem, and you probably will not notice a shorter life, as they tend to burn out anyway, eventually.
