If I beat the entire game using the Wii Wheel, and I get the golden wheel icon, will it only appear online while I use the wheel, or will it always show no matter what controller I‘m using?
the game has no idea if you're using the wii wheel or not. The wheel is just a cheap piece of plastic that holds the controller.
Your controller does not plug into the wheel. I don't think that there is any way for the Wii to know if you were using the wheel or or just holding the bare remote in your hand.
If the the percentage of time you use the Wii Wheel falls under %50, you will lose it. I think that if you have a golden Wii Wheel and you use a different controller, the Wii Wheel will turn white. Also, you won't be able to just beat the game with the Wii Wheel to get the golden Wii Wheel. It depends on how long you use it and how long you use other controllers. edit: The game actually does know when whether you use the Wii Wheel (or just the wii mote sideways) or whether your using the another controller (I.E gamecube, Wiimote and Nunchuck, classic, etc)
