Isn't it corpse paint and rawness some do it well some sound so bad that the very first recording ever sounds better its so wasteful. CC (new cd as good as ever), Morbid Angel (new album is arrive sometime soon great!), and Carcass (who knows about a new album but they been touring) they are death metal. Not many good Blackmetal out anymore like Darkthrone which is a must as they been around forever also the Storm project Mutiilation is sorta well known but limited then I kinda listen to some new stuff like Kult Ov Azazel. I don't just listen to just metal.
Black Metal would maybe be faster and more complex with their playing. Death Metal is heavier than Black Metal in all aspects. When it comes to vocals Black Metal has higher pitch harsh vocals than Death Metal which has lower, deeper harsh vocals.Black Metal bands will sometimes write lyrics about the world, or problems in the world, and Death metal will sometimes write lyrics about death, of course, violence, and more disgusting things. Take Cannibal Corpse for example. Black Metal is definitely more complex than Death Metal just in general.
