is the metal gears 4 game any good???
Yes I do. And I think it's pretty dumb to call power metal 'cheesy' when, like it or not, metal itself is in general can be pretty cheesy. If power metal lyrics can be generalized as wizards and fantasy, black metal lyrics can also be called 'virgin sacrifices and burning churches', death metal lyrics as 'torture, rape and necrophilia'. Obviously these aren't always true but neither is 'wizards and fantasy'. Same generalizations can be made for the music. That being said, I probably do prefer death and black over power. But the plain truth is, no genre that has been around for more than 10 years and escaped the phenomena of 'chessiness'. As for the extreme part, how will there be any diversity in metal when every genre is aimed at being extreme? BA: I'm really too tired to think properly at the moment but anyways... I wouldn't say I love power metal because I'm still a new listener and I don't know too many bands but yea it's really cool. Those were all awesome! I'll have to look into adding them to my library of power metal =) Stuff I DO listen to Krypteria Benedictum Sinergy Lucifer's Friend Judas Priest
My favourite Metal subgenre is Power Metal. I am also an avid Extreme Metal fan. When the two mix, it's amazing. Bands such as Wintersun, (early) Children of Bodom, Norther, Kalmah and Raintime are all examples of this amazing blend of Power Metal instrumental and aggressive harsh vocals.
I love a lot of Extreme Metal. Thats mostly what I listen to lanow a days. But, Power Metal is just something I can't handle. Its ok for a song or two and I occasionally enjoy those songs. I have nothing against it, but I just don't care for it. As for you follow up question; The vocal's I fidn a little annoying and from what Power Metal I've heard their isn't usually much variation. Nice question, though.
power metal is one of the few (the only??) metal sub- genres that for some reason leaves me cold... bar a very few bands... Helloween, and erm... when i was getting into metal i lived in the UK and no-one i knew listened to 'power metal'... me and my friends preferred metal that was derived from 'blues' or 'punk'. I've since moved to the continent (Spain) and i can't get away from the more melodic 'classical' influenced power metal stuff... and i'm afraid, bar the odd standout tune, i can't stand it!
