I actually think Atmospheric Black Metal gets a lot of attention but I personally dislike Funeral Doom. Blackened Death Metal is pretty underrated, along with some Avant-Garde Metal.
I would say Folk Metal. Outside of metal nerds, Folk Metal is one of the least known Metal genres and I personally think it's one of the best. It's definitely one of the most diverse if not the most diverse metal subgenre.
