I need an idea for a sheet metal project to do at my school.I've already done a toolbox and a dustpan. Any ideas you got please i need 'em. If you got one please send the layout with it please. Thank You.
Generally a metal shed is not suitable because if in cold weather the difference in Temperature from inside to outside will get condensation forming on the inside of the metal shed and sick birds result.and very quickly. If in hot dry region and total front and floor made of mesh then would get get away with it otherwise you need to insulate the metal so that the difference in temp is not an issue. If you go into a metal storage shed no birds in cold weather will see condensation.
Metal does not provide much in the way of insulation from the cold, whereas wood will provide a little more. Metal often times has a tendency to draw moisture which is probably not something you want. In the summer, the metal building would become extremely hot for the birds. Adding all the necessities of a chicken house in a metal building would be much more difficult than in a wood building. Adding doors and windows to a wood structure would be easier than to the metal storage shed. All in all, I believe you would be much happier with a wood building than with a metal shed.
A lot of people convert old sheds to chicken coops and have them turn out really nice. You can add a roost and nest boxes inside and than a chicken run area around the shed. I'll bet the metal shed would making cleaning easy than in a wooden coop.
