Question:

Microcontroller for controlling a dol starter?

Hello,I have a 3hp induction motor on my farm, however i want to control in via telecommunication signals. So I have designed all the required decoders for telecommunication. The problem is that Now i want to Either control the starter or directly the induction motor.I am not able to do in any of the way. Please help me. Please atleast give me some concept on how to use the 3 phase supply to the microcontroller.Which microcontroller should i use???Thanks in advance.

Answer:

You need to install a variable frequency speed controller and control that by whatever means you can usually 0-10vdc. but you require to run cables. Or do you wish to simply start/stop it? This can be achieved via a plc interface, but OTT for one motor. Multiplexes can control many units with just 2 wire highway, but not economical for one unit. You are probably cheaper running remote control cables for start/stop buttons.
Use a variable frequency drive with the wireless communications card. Allen Bradly and many other manufactures make everything you need. Depending on the horse power of motor determines the cost.
