Question:

motorcycle front tire wobbles when i hit about 60?

its a 1978 honda hawk 400t so im guessin somthing needs to be replaced does anyone know the common problems for this

Answer:

Best to have a trained mechanic check it out. Here's a few things he'd be looking for, first- an old tire, bent rim, loose stokes. Second- blown fork seal(s), bent fork-tube. Third- worn bearings in the front hub. Fourth could be poor front to rear wheel alignment or worn bearings in the steering-head. Hope you see where I'm heading, also hope you see that mechanic soon!
I use them on my wrangler, they do stop better.
ceramics will be your best bet.they run cooler-quiter-last a little longer-and no black brake dust.
If it is not the tyre pressure or condition and the brakes are not binding then – Support the front wheel off the ground, have somebody hold the bars, hold the wheel top and bottom and try to move it side to side – if it moves significantly the wheel bearings are on the way out and need replacing. Take the bike off its stand, hold the bars and apply the front brake, push down on the bars to compress the suspension – if it feels crunchy or makes a clicking noise the head bearings are on their way out and need replacing. Check for weeping around the fork seals, replace the seals and the oil. Run a spanner around each spoke, listen for a musical note, any dull sounds indicate a loose spoke, if too many of them are dull sounding then you need to get the wheel rebuilt (it is possible to do yourself but is easy to get wrong) one or two together should be okay to tighten up with a spoke spanner.
Does it wobble left/right or up/down? Up and down is probably an imbalance, as simple as losing a wheel balance weight. Steering neck bearings, there are 3 bolts onthe top of the part holding the forks together, it's the center one and a match on the bottom, check them for tightness first. Put on center stand, place weight on the rear of the seat to raise the fromt wheel. and shake the bars, then the tire.
