Question:

Motorcycle tire size help!?

I am running a 130/70-18 front on my v-star 950. I want to get some white wall tires but I can‘t find any in this size. I find many white walls in a 120/90-18. My question is; what is the main difference in these sizes. Is the 120/19-18 a wider tire or a taller tire? I think it will fit fine but I would like some reassurance before ordering.

Answer:

specific, it extremely is going to although the a hundred ninety would be flatter around the tread and extremely slightly shorter , it extremely is going to slow your turn in speed slightly, and reason you to exert slightly greater attempt to hold the bike at a given lean perspective even though it extremely is going to in good shape. precise now i'm working one on my FZ6, have confidence me while its wiped out i'm going returned to a one hundred eighty!!! i assumed the FZ1 got here with a a hundred ninety inventory? maximum liter motorcycles do.
The sizes on the original tyre mean Width 130mm Height is 70% of the width Diameter is 18 inches. So your whitewall would be narrower and 17mm higher. The height will be slightly less as you are putting a narrower tyre on the same rim so the tyre will be flattened a little. This will make the bike tip into corners faster and the handling will be a bit funky as the rear tyre is the same size. It probably won't matter too much on a cruiser whilst on a sportsbike, it would be a disaster. You should be ok to fit the whitewall tyre
